Palehound – Bent Nail EP

“The minimal-yet-intoxicating ditty “Pet Carrot”, is proof that with a few strong influences (Liz Phair, Elliott Smith and Kim Deal) a friend/mentor in Speedy Ortiz’s Sadie Dupuis, and a congenital knack for melody all her own, Kempner hardly needs to start from scratch. Recorded by Carlos Hernandez and Julian Fader of avant-punk R&B outfit Ava Luna at Gravesend Recordings, the studio run by Brooklyn DIY venue/co-op Silent Barn, as part of the forthcoming debut Palehound EP Bent Nail (out October 22 via Exploding in Sound), “Pet Carrot” is a cartwheel in slow-mo about emotional connection (or lack thereof) that finds Kempner exercising an artful level of restraint.”
